The Guest Blog:  Flexible Hen and Stag Event Options – Funktion Events

The Host: Managing Director of Funktion Events and Funktion Leisure

I didn’t hesitate to pop my head above the parapet when I saw Jay’s call for guest bloggers on LinkedIn, to get some mutually beneficial backlinks going.

I’d worked with Funktion Events  over many years with my various sales hats on. They were always supportive of me and took most of the restaurants and entertainment brands I worked for in to their venue portfolios for hen and stag weekends and also corporate events.

We’d maintained a great relationship since our very first contact in 2008/9, when they were a new start-up and I was doing outsourced sales consultancy at the Manchester Conference Centre & Days Hotel.

It was heart-breaking to see their temporary demise in 2020-21, when the pandemic caused devastation in the hospitality and event sectors. But Jay fared better than many by being an early adopter of the online event technology that enabled him to pivot in to virtual events.

In this article, I took a dive in to the cruel chaos the coronavirus caused to businesses like Jay’s, in ways that weren’t apparent to people outside the sectors. And how his gritty fight for survival put him a step ahead of his competitors when the market finally started creeping back.

He’s now busy expanding and recruiting. I wish Funktion Events the very best moving forwards. But they don’t need luck when they’ve got tenacious leadership.
